About that engine - living up the RS badge's reputation, the Focus sports a turbocharged 2.5L Duratec four-cylinder making 295-hp and 302 lb-ft of torque, along with a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip differential and a front suspension system called a "RevoKnuckle" designed to reduce torque steer. Combined these help rocket the Focus RS from 0 - 62 in under 6 seconds, while 13.2-in. ventilated front disc brakes (and 11.8-in. rear ones) scrub off speed with authority. To maintain precise handling the RS also includes a significantly upgraded suspension including revised springs and dampers, a longer rear anti-roll bar, as well as a retuned steering rack and unique 19-in. wheels.
Inside the car's sporting theme continues with Recaro seats featuring body-color inserts and ebony leather accents, brushed aluminum highlights, carbon-look trim, a three-spoke steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and a special cluster of performance gauges mounted above the center console. Featured at London in a special green paint similar to the LeMans Green of the Escort RS1600, Ford says some details on the car may still change before it reaches production. Sales begin in early 2009.
